Year full of...

2011 was  a day ago and it was a...

Year full of transitions.
It was a year full of transitions. I've been working in the same office since April of 2010 and suddenly projects weren't doing so well and so were the finances so I had to leave for a while, find a temporary job and later go back for a more awesome offer from the same organization. It was also the time I had to leave my country for an exchange program abroad (in Malaysia) and such took a lot of courage in me. I really wanted it but sometimes I'm just not resolved considering leaving my loved ones back home. I was everywhere. Doing project reports at one point, training people at another, teaching kids to learn English at another and now I'm far away from home doing the work I enjoyed the most: spreading development. How's that for transitions...

My resolve for 2012 is to do my best in my tasks as FK volunteer and my goal is to advance positive change in the organization I'm working with. To do this I have to:
- be sensitive to the org's need
- lessen my social networking activity (or prioritize work and balance things)
- finish all the research works as intended
- be more open to my Supervisor about how the program should go

Year full of hope.
2011 was a year full of hope. There were times of cluelessness. I used to write personal notes on how unsure I am of what to do, but there also came times when I was just fully aware of the situation and knew that I can do it. It was a test of faith and I am glad how things turned out. It turned out to be pretty amazing. It taught me  one big lesson:
You can never be sure of what happens next unless you leave it all up to God and follow suit."

2011 reminded me of that lesson I might have missed along the way.

My resolve for 2012 is to strengthen my spiritual relationship with God and to trust Him more and I'll do this by:
- attending church more regularly
- read my Bible more often

Year full of love.
I owe this to Krista and to my family and friends. I just felt I was important and significant to them in 2011. I know I've always been loved and cared for but 2011 did a trick of making them express it even more. One reason maybe is because I'll be far away for a while and the possibility of someone leaving makes people say words they've not said and do things they haven't done. Krista was for all the years the great person I can always talk to about things that excite me and bother me. I owe her great deal of hugs when I come back. Calling home to tell them stories and adventures is one thing I look forward to everyday.

So with this come my resolve for 2012: that I will
- be more expressive of my love to the people I value dearly
- call them regularly/ more often
- invest in better data plan (for internet)

Year full of friendship.
2011 made me realize how many friends I have who truly cares for me. It's just refreshing everytime you meet up friends after a stressful week at work (not that it's always like that). I also gained some more friends from different countries who share the same great deal of passion for development.

So my resolve for 2012 is to always be connected with them and hopefully to meet up with them here. I'm just so excited about it.

Year full of learning.
I have to say 2011 was like going back to college experience for me.
  • On top of the list in learning was the preparatory course in AIT, Bangkok who taught me a lot of things about development work. It was a great experience for me and I'm just so thankful that the kind of work I'm in offers this lifelong learning not just in development but also in other people's culture.
  • Second would be the people I'm surrounded with. I'm just thankful how intellectual my bunch of friends are and we get to talk about things in their deeper sense. BACA people and PARL friends are just amazing sources of much needed intellectual discussions every once in a while.
  • Third would be books, films and Internet. It was in 2011 that I found out the great potential of Internet as knowledge source. Books and films have always been my companions in times that I just want to shut down from the world and exist in a different one.
All these made my 2011 a year full of learning and my resolves for 2012 are to
- learn more about other people's culture and I will do this by travelling all over Malaysia
- find/attend discussion groups on development here in Malaysia or just any
hobbyist groups I can identify with (never stop learning)
- explore KL's or Malaysia's art scene...
- apply for MA degree soon (possibly in Dev't Mgt. / Dev. Comm. / Pol. Sci. / Int'l. Stud. or Pub. Mgt.)
  whatever works out

Year full of blessings and possibilities.
Definitely. Blessings just kept on pouring each in every time and they usually came in the most unexpected ways. Lesson learned: God uses people and situation to bless people. Blessings do not come when you wanted them but when God knows you really want and need them.

I'm just so grateful how He poured out all these amazing blessings to me and my goal for 2012 is to share them. I haven't done as much sharing in 2011 my resolve is to share more...
- I wish to volunteer for a human rights organization soon (this may come a little bit later in the year or early 2013)

Other things (material ones)
Here is a list of other things I wish to have for 2012. These are basically the tools I'll be using to make my goals and resolutions possible:
- MacBook Pro (good investment to target goals on communication/ learning etc.)
- Good camera (possibly a Nikon P300 or Nikon P7100 or the Lumic compact one)
- New phone (I think it's high time since I've been using this phone for more than two years. I need something
that will help me with the productivity aspect)
- headset (a good one)
- coffee maker (I really want one. hope to be brewing soon)

Just amazing how all these things can happen in a year. If 2011 was a year full of, I'm sure 2012 will be a year fuller of and I'm going to make it happen, in Jesus name. Bring it 2012.

 So help me God.:)

Selamat Tahun Baru!!!
